Highly recommend them!Posted on Salvador Abud We recently worked with Romo Construction for a home addition, and overall, we’re satisfied with the outcome. They added a second story to our house, which provided us with the extra rooms and bathroom we needed. The team handled everything from the architectural plans and design to the structural engineering, making the whole process fairly straightforward. While the project did take a bit longer than we initially anticipated, we understood the challenges involved. Communication was solid throughout, and we appreciated their professionalism. If you’re looking for a reliable contractor for a home addition, I’d recommend considering Romo Construction.Posted on Richard Wheeler We needed to repair leak damage in a small bathroom. Romo Remodeling specializes in large-scale kitchen renovations that go far beyond replacing cabinets and countertops. Our projects often include open-concept layout changes, structural wall removal, custom cabinetry, built-in and panel-ready appliances, premium countertops, lighting, plumbing, electrical work, and complete kitchen transformations.
Many Houston homes were built with kitchens separated from the living and dining areas by partition or load-bearing walls. Romo Remodeling has extensive experience opening these spaces to create larger, more functional kitchens and open-concept layouts.
Depending on the home, this can involve structural engineering, beam installation, electrical relocation, HVAC adjustments, plumbing changes, ceiling repairs, flooring transitions, and finish work throughout the surrounding areas.
Because these changes affect more than just the kitchen, we coordinate the structural and construction work as part of the overall remodel rather than treating wall removal as a separate add-on. In some homes, creating the right kitchen and living-area layout may also involve a home addition in Houston to expand the existing footprint. Many of these kitchen projects are also part of larger whole-home remodeling projects in Houston, where the kitchen, living areas, flooring, lighting, and surrounding spaces are redesigned together.
The cost of a full kitchen remodel in Houston can vary significantly depending on the size of the kitchen, structural changes, cabinetry, appliance package, countertops, finishes, and how much plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and flooring work is involved.
As a general planning guide, a standard full kitchen remodel using quality prefabricated cabinetry may start around $50,000, while larger kitchens with custom cabinetry, structural changes, built-in appliances, premium finishes, and surrounding living-area work can easily reach $80,000–$150,000+.
The biggest cost differences usually come from structural work, cabinetry, appliance integration, MEP relocation, countertops, flooring, and the level of finish selected.
| Kitchen Remodel Component | Typical Planning Range |
|---|---|
| Full kitchen remodel with quality prefabricated cabinetry | $50,000+ |
| Full kitchen remodel with custom cabinetry | $80,000+ |
| Large custom / structural kitchen remodel | $100,000–$150,000+ |
| Load-bearing wall removal / structural opening | $7,000–$30,000+ |
| Prefabricated cabinetry | $15,000–$30,000 |
| Custom cabinetry | $35,000–$60,000+ |
| Structural beam / engineering / support work | Varies by span and conditions |
| Plumbing / electrical / HVAC relocation | Varies by scope |
| Premium countertops / waterfalls / mitered edges | Varies by material and fabrication |
| Specialty flooring / oversized porcelain / marble | Varies by material and layout |
These are general planning ranges only. Every kitchen is different. For example, removing a load-bearing wall may require engineering, beam installation, temporary shoring, new point loads, concrete work, flooring repairs, electrical relocation, HVAC changes, or plumbing modifications. A simple exposed beam is typically less involved than a recessed beam designed to create a completely flush ceiling.
Cabinetry also has a major impact on cost. Prefabricated cabinets can work very well for many homes, while fully custom cabinetry involves additional design, fabrication, installation, and finishing time. Built-in and panel-ready appliances also require closer coordination between the cabinetry, appliance installer, electrical, plumbing, and countertop fabricator.
Material selections matter as well. Standard quartz or granite is generally more straightforward to fabricate than delicate natural stone, oversized slabs, waterfalls, or mitered countertop edges. Flooring, lighting, specialty LED details, and code-required electrical upgrades can also affect the final price.
Because of these variables, Romo Remodeling develops each kitchen budget around the actual home, layout, structural conditions, and finish level rather than relying on one generic price-per-square-foot number.

A complete kitchen transformation completed as part of a larger whole-home renovation in West University. The project included structural wall removal, engineering and permitting, custom steel supports, white oak cabinetry and island, custom stained carpentry, Taj Mahal countertops, and a custom pantry with new windows. We collaborated closely with the interior designer to execute the detailed design and finishes.
This custom Tanglewood kitchen featured perimeter cabinetry, a fully built-in pantry, panel-ready appliances, and extensive custom carpentry. The oversized island was finished with a double-waterfall countertop, while the surrounding hardwood floors were refinished and stained to complete the space. The project required detailed planning and coordination with the interior designer throughout construction.
This Houston kitchen remodel focused on giving the existing space a completely new look while preserving portions of the original cabinetry structure. We built new custom cabinet doors and drawers, rebuilt the island to create a larger and more functional centerpiece, and refinished the cabinetry with a custom painted finish. The project also included stone countertops, a full stone backsplash, stained hardwood flooring, and additional custom detailing throughout the kitchen. We collaborated with the interior designer to coordinate the layout, finishes, and final design.
This League City remodel required much more than replacing cabinets and countertops. We removed walls and relocated an existing HVAC closet to completely open the kitchen and living areas, along with relocating electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. The finished kitchen included custom cabinetry, built-in appliances, and upgraded finishes throughout.
One of our more structurally involved kitchen remodels, this Cypress project required removing complicated structural walls, reinforcing portions of the concrete foundation, and extensive engineering to correct the home’s awkward existing layout. We also relocated multiple MEP systems and installed custom cabinetry, a plaster vent hood, a concealed pantry behind a cabinet-style door, premium finishes, and high-end appliances.
This Katy kitchen was designed around custom green cabinetry and natural quartzite countertops for a distinctive, highly finished look. The remodel also included removal of an existing wall and relocation of MEP systems to improve the layout and create a more open, functional kitchen.
